Q.1- What did Lencho hope for?
Ans:-Seeing the sky towards north-east, Lencho hoped for at least a shower,
to water his ripe corn.
Q.2- Why did Lencho say that the raindrops were like ‘new
coins’?
Ans:-The rain would help Lencho in getting a better harvest resulting more
money and prosperity. It was as if it is raining money. So when the raindrops
fell, Lencho said the raindrops ‘new coins’ of money falling from the sky .
Q.3- How did the rain changed? What happened to Lencho’s field?
Ans:-The rain changed to a hailstorm which lasted for an hour.
Lencho’s field was totally covered with
hailstones and all his corn destroyed.
Q.4- What were Lencho’s feeling when the hail stopped?
Ans:-When the rain stopped, Lencho regarded his destroyed corn and his soul was filled with sadness. He stood in
the middle of the field and regarded that all his hard work had come nothing
and there was no one who could help him and his family.

Q.1- Who or what did Lencho have faith in? What did he do?
Ans:-Lencho have faith in God and his goodness.
Lencho wrote a letter to god asking him to
help his family. In the letter Lencho explained his situation and asked god to
send him hundred pesos in order to sow his field again and live until the crop
would come the folloeing year.
Q.2- Who read the leter?
Ans:-The postmaster read the letter.
Q.3- What did the postmaster do then?
Ans:-After reading Lencho’s letter the postmaster was touched by Lencho’s faith
in god and did not want to be shaken it. He decided to help Lencho and asked
his employees and friends to contribute towards kindness, He himself give a
part of his salary. Hense he collected seventy pesos. He then put the money in
an envelope addressed to Lencho with a
letter containing a single word ‘God’. He then mailed it to Lencho.

Q.1- Was Lencho surprised to find a letter for him with money in
it?
Ans:-No, Lencho was not surprised to find a letter for him with money in it.
He had deep faith in God and he was sure that god would help and his family.
Q.2- What made him angry?
Ans:-When he found a letter for him with money in it he counted the money.
Then he found only seventy pesos and not the hundred that god had definitely
send him. He thought that the post office employees had stolen the rest of the
money. This made him angry.

the story tell you this?
Ans:- Lencho
have complete faith in God and hid goodness.
The following sentences in
the story tell us this:
(I But
in the heart of all who lived in that solitary house in the middle of the
valley, there was a single hope: help from God.
(ii) All
through the night, Lencho thought only of his one hope: the help of God, whose eyes, as he had been instructed, see
everything, even what is deep in one's conscience.

He wrote 'To God' on the envelope, put
the letter inside and still troubled, went to town.

"God" he wrote, "if you
don't help me, my family and I will go hungry this year.

could not have made a mistake, nor could he have denied Lencho what he had

Ans:- After reading Lencho’s letter the postmaster was touched by Lencho’s
faith in god and did not want to be shaken it. So he sent money to Lencho.
He signed the letter ‘God’ because he want
to make Lencho to think that there was only God who helped him.
Q.3- Did Lencho try to find out who had sent the money to him?
Why/Why not?
Ans:- No Lencho did not try to find out who had sent the money
because he had complete faith in god. He was sure that the money was sent by
God.
Q.4- Who does Lencho think has taken the rest of the money? What
is the irony in the situation?
Ans:- Lencho thinks that the employees of the post office have
taken the rest of the money.
The irony in the situation is that the
very people who had tried their almost to help Lencho and who had donated money
for him being accused of being crooks.
